the Mechanical Toys Factory's Oldtimers Race

After a failed attempt last month, because of my flu, Lord Lisle succeded getting em involved in the Oldtimers Race organized by the people of Mechanical Toy Factory.

Mechanical Toy Factory's Oldtimers Race

Well, I did NOT performed great : out of 8 people entering the race, 6 made into the final and I was not among them, still it was a great fun. I started practicing just a few hours before the race so, I guess, I may be excused for a not too brilliant performance :)

The cars were provided by the organization and they were a really great toy. I think I'll buy one, even if I still prefer sailing ;)

Here is the podium of the race and a group shot.

There will be probably a new race next month

See you there ! :)

more images from the Blake Sea and the USS

the Morning Star Sailing from Nutilus to Sailors Cove

Yesterday I took a new cruise into the Blake Sea, this time using the Morning Star, and taking the ship into the USS as well. Lord Lisle was briefly with me, before his pilot nature took over and he decided to fly in the area, and after him Aurora joined me and kept me company. We went by the Hollywood sim, where I showed Aurora the famous statue of the drowned thas she did not know and after that we headed south to Sailors Cove.

It is a bit strange to find Sailors Cove in the SE portion of the region while it used to be in the northwestern part, but I guess this is Second Life :) An institute of dynamic geography is needed :)

I love Sailors Cove. It is such a lovely place and I like it more and more every time I visit. I am very tempted to rent a docking place there for one of the small boats. The Star of Faeria maybe.

Maybe tonight I'll take there one of the small fast boats. The Little Star would be fun !

constructions

I have never been a great builder or scripter. Mostly because I much prefer to spend my time online exploring or hanging with friends rather than improving my skills. I have created a nice script for detecting and greeting visitors and a few minor builds. I have started a Roman villa once and two castles that I abandoned.

I loved the Roman building, but it was taking far too many prims and I gave it up.

I also started three castles, to be used as skyboxes. The first can be seen in the next image. It is almost completed and it is in my inventory. I did not dislike it, but I made a mistake and I took a footprint too large with respect to what I could afford on my Winterfell plots. I started a new one but after a while I decided I did not like the way it was turning out, so I erased it.

Under Constraction

Now I have another one under construction, 3000m on the sky over Winterfell Ebonshire. This time I made a plan before I started to put the prims together and it is not coming out too bad, even if the surrounding conditions have changed and I do not know if I will complete it, at least in its present form.

In the meanwhile I started a new project : an airbase. It all started when Lord Lisle took me on some of his planes. Lord Lisle is a great fan of SL aviation and riding his planes with him has always been a great fun. He took me also to get a number of freebie planes, among which some really cool steampunk flyers (in return I have taken him out to sea a few times :) ).

In the meanwhile I also found a couple of really cool airships I became very fond of and so I decided to star building a space that could provide a runaway for the planes and docking spaces for the airships.

The airbase is still under construction and in progress but so far I am having a lot of fun and so I hope to see it completed early enough.

Airbase

I think it would be cool to have a grand opening once it will be ready :))

Stay tuned

P.S. My entry to the Mix'n Match event was supposed to appear yesterday, but the hosting blog has not published it yet. It is really a pity not have appeared together will all the others on the expected date, but from her latest post,it appears that the blog owner was taking some time away, so I hope it will appear eventually when she will be back

changes

Time goes by very quickly in the virtual world
I have been an active avie for just more than one year but to me it seems much much longer

Friends that I have known for one year give me the feeling of a lifetime acquanintance, and places that I have known and loved have evolved, changed or are even long gone.

Maybe it is the speed of change of the landscape so much faster than in RL, that give this feeling of compressed time.

Look how much Faeria have changed in one year, for instance : I discovered Faeria looking for bookstores in search and my first memory of it is the old TP point and the old Booksmythe. They have both gone for months.

It is with some nostalgic mood that sometime still think of those first days, the poeple TP'ing in the old point near Lord Lisle's stall and the stairs going down to Huk under the change sim warning sign ... the old path to Nakji, going through that lost corner of paradise that was Princess' dream and around the ban lines ... the pub and Master Peck's shop in their old locations ... Hastings' and Lord Lisle's Galleries ...

The PHC saturdays in the old common area seem so lost in time already, and some of the people who used to attend are so much missed.

So many things has happened in these months : Faeria expanded a lot, got almost all the parcels embedded into it and allowed a more rational placement of buildings and shops. The forest expanded , growing even into Hwang and Rhee. The village has been modified first and and rebuilt from scratch then.

One of the not so happy moment is what I call the failed Invasion of Huk. It was a bold attempt to expand Faeria into the sim west of it , with the merchant fair and the galleries that started to be built there. And then the fall back, the sex club filling the space that was supposed to become part of Faeria, the village that had to be moved away from the border and the sad moments and the decisions that ultimately took Princess away from Faeria.

Now Faeria covers almost the entire Huin, a wonderful library is being built and the beauty has only increased ... yet ... sometime I miss that old TP point and the layout that now is only in my memory. It looks so far away in time.

so long
