New Template
After quite a while, I moved to a new blogger template, supporting two sidebars on opposite sides of the main blog column.
As I did last year, I also added some Holidays Music from the Magnatune Catalog. I hope it is something that can be enjoyes

The Star Burst
Following the damaging of the Battle Star I anticipated the commissioning of a new ship: the Star Burst.
This heavy Brig will be assigned to the Ships of the Line Squadron and will provide escort to the bigger ships, stationed in the home waters of Winterfell, freeing the ships of the High Seas squadron for far away duties.
Here are a couple of images of the ship entering Eventide

Under Attack
Last night there was a surprise attack to the fleet and the Battle Star was badly damaged and partly sunk.
The engineers have been able to take the beaten hull to a dry dock and tell me she can be repaired but she is now out of commission for several weeks.
The fleet firepower has been severely diminished.

Winds of War
There have been rumors going around in the past days about Caledon being ready to attack Mainland.
It does not make much sense to me but the news have gone around the all over the Steamlands and their is a fair amount of discussions going on.
The Lady Seneschelf has proclaimed Winterfell's neutrality, which makes me only happy, because there is a bit of mainlander in all of us ("Ich bin ein Mainlander" to rephrase a famous sentence).
In any case, since history teaches us that neutrality is guaranteed only to those who can defend it, I have recalled some ships of the High Seas Squadron back in Winterfell waters and I have started to run daily patrols to make sure that the realm is safe.
Here is an image of task force 15, composed by the Battle Star, the Hunting Star and the Exploring Star sailing just south of the Nepenthe Gate.

My Exhibit at the Bare Rose Art Gallery
Miss Nympheas Nogah, curator of the Bare Rose Art Gallery, has recently invited to display some of my pictures there. The exhibit opened last Saturday with samples from two different collections: one is the collection of photos of models of various saling vessels that I own in RL. They are cute models and I had a lot of fun photographing them.
The other is a collection of images taken during my adventures and explorations in SL.
As some reader (are there any ? ;) ) might have figured it out already I have a passion for sailing in SL. This passion hit me since the very first days in SL and it took me into two directions: one is where I spend most of my Second Life: sailing and exploring. The other is making pictures where many times tall ships are my favorite subject.
At the entrance of the exhibit there is also a small catalog, free to be picked up, with some samples of my sailship models; the same catalog available in my Bright Star Gallery.
The Bare Rose Gallery is located at http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Bare%20Rose/246/39/30

No RFL Clothing Fair in 2011
This morning I was having a look at the blogs I follow in Google Reader and I stumbled upon an entry from the end of october that I had not read yet. Here is the link to the original blog post : Nevar Lobo and Amethist Starosin will not organize a Clothing Fair in 2011 to concentrate on their RL.
I understand that organizing such an event can be energy consuming and that after a while one must stop the engines, and I thank deeply Nevar and Amethist for such a wonderful accomplishment over the past years.
However I cannot help but being very sad about the fair not taking place in 2011. For some reasons the RFL Clothing Fair has always been my favorite event of the SL year. It may be because it was the first RFL event I discovered, or because of the feeling of crowded sims it was possible to experience there, or even the great creative effort organizers and vendors put together in displaying fabolous sims and shops .. I do not really know, but I was always happy exploring it.
I still remember well the four sims of the 2008 fair, the first I discovered, with the 4 themed sime, the shops around the external perimeter and the memorial park in the middle. Or the nine sims of the 2009 Fair, with its pirate theme and the beautiful lagoon where the music events took place and the pirate decorated shop. Or the fantastic fair of 2010 with its theme of the Fashion Capital of the World and the 9 fantastic sims inspired by 9 fantastic cities.
An event I will deeply miss.
Thank you again Nevar and Amethist for giving the fair to us and for the accomplishments in fund raising
